While some are already focused on what might happen once GTA 6 gets a concrete release date, many GTA Online players are just trying to make the most of their remaining time in Los Santos.

Though some of the game’s recent weekly updates haven’t been received very positively by its hardcore players, many had hoped that the San Andreas Mercenaries update would help reinvigorate their passion for it.

Sadly, this definitely hasn’t proven the case so far, with the new content that’s been added seemingly not doing enough to satisfy players or alleviate their frustrations regarding what the update has taken away from them, leading some to suggest that it might be the worst to ever arrive in the game.

Have you been left frustrated by GTA Online’s San Andreas Mercenaries update?

Their expansion-based exasperation can be found in a slew of recent threads on the GTA Online subreddit, one of which user Bill_From_RDR2 kicked off by simply stating: “This update has to be the worst. It added a few contact missions and made no significant positive impact, whilst removing some of the most popular vehicles in the game [from storefronts].”

Many of their fellow criminals seem to share an equally negative opinion of the update, even if they don’t rank it at the very bottom of their DLC rankings, with user TestHorse arguing: “It’s easily the worst [one] since the [very] early updates, none of the new content is worth playing.”

Others have attempted to compare the update to 2018’s Arena War, which generally isn’t viewed very favourably by the community, with user Cookiesrdelishus suggesting: “Arena War, while overpriced, at least added a good [amount] of awesome cars that were fun to drive and customise. This Mercenaries update [is] just lacklustre in comparison.”

Aside from the aforementioned removal of cars, users in the thread cited the Mercenaries update not featuring a particularly strong story, its contact missions paying poorly, and the lack of vehicles added by it that aren’t subject to limited-time availability as reasons why they aren’t happy with it.

Meanwhile, in other threads, players have bemoaned the fact that it increases the cooldown time on payphone hit missions to 48 minutes and that its removal of the majority of the game’s choppers from storefronts makes it very difficult to play as a biker, unless you’ve already invested in every Harley on offer.

A few have even gone as far as revising the game’s cover to omit the 9F sports car and the Sanchez dirt bike, both of which were on the list of vehicles removed from in-game websites.
