With Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2's lifespan moving towards its end, attention is slowly shifting towards the reveal of the heavily-rumoured Modern Warfare 3. This sequel to is currently expected to arrive later this year and the rumour mill is shifting into gear regarding what it might include.

So far, information on the game's beta has seemingly leaked, but many are still on the hunt for intel on what Sledgehammer Games has in store for the full release.

The latest leak to emerge has seemingly uncovered two iconic multiplayer maps that it claims will be in the game at launch.

Modern Warfare 3 to feature classic maps?

Notable Call of Duty leaker CoD_Perseus uploaded apparent images of these maps, Terminal and Scrapyard, to Twitter, which were were hastily removed from the social media platform via a DMCA from Activision, the copyright holder.

The appearance of Terminal and Scrapyard in the game, if true, would come as no surprise. 2023’s Call of Duty title has long been rumoured to be acting pretty much as as DLC for Modern Warfare 2, which could explain the lack of maps from the original 2009 version of the game in its recent Season 4 update.

Many fans once believed Terminal would likely arrive at some point during the Modern Warfare 2 cycle, but now it’s seemingly expected to arrive in Modern Warfare 3, the sixth instalment of the Modern Warfare series, instead.

If the leaks are accurate, 2023’s Call of Duty release could feature one of the best map pools in recent years. A mixture of iconic arenas and new battlefields could spark a much-needed resurgence for the series, after Infinity Ward missed the mark with 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.

As with all leaks, it’s important to take this information with a pinch of salt until Activision unveils more official information on 2023’s Call of Duty release. For now though, the prospect of Terminal and Scrapyard returning is an exciting one.
