We're finally approaching the end of Destiny 2 Season 20, also known as Season of Defiance, and slowly but surely Bungie is revealing more information regarding the immediate future of the franchise: Season 21.

Officially named Season of the Deep, the recently released artwork for it sees Guardians in what seems to be the moon Titan, one of the locations removed from the game during the big content wipe right before The Witch Queen.

Our Guardians seem to be in deep (no pun intended) trouble as the mythical Titan sea monster, which has been a long-standing mystery for Destiny 2 fans, can be seen.

Finally, a returning Commander Sloane is shown in the artwork too. She seems in a bit of a pickle of herself, with her right arm covered in Taken/Darkness corruption.

We got plenty of information to cover so let's get down to everything you need to know about Destiny 2 Season 21, or Season of the Deep.

Season of Defiance is coming to an end

According to the in-game season pass timer, Season of the Defiance is expected to end on May 22nd. Meaning Season of the Deep will start on Tuesday, May 23rd.

It will last until mid-August, giving players plenty of time to grind and chase those perfect God Rolls they desire.

Season 21 roadmap

Throughout Season of the Deep you can expect the following events to take place:

  • Iron Banner (three times during the season)
  • Trials of Osiris (every weekend in which Iron Banner isn't active)
  • New seasonal activity
  • New weekly mission
  • Exotic weapon quest (to be confirmed)
  • Seasonal events (to be confirmed)

Since Season of Defiance brought a new raid, Root of Nightmares, expect a new dungeon to release with Season of the Deep too.

Season 21 season pass - Cost

We'll have a full breakdown of the season pass once it's fully revealed, but expect it to come with the usual assortment of content, including:

  • New exotic weapon
  • New gear ornaments
  • New seasonal gear
  • New seasonal weapons
  • Bright Dust
  • Emotes
  • Materials
  • XP Boosts

As always, the price will be set at 1,000 Silver (around $10). Do note that, unlike other games, the season pass doesn't only include cosmetics, as you'll need to purchase it to take part in certain seasonal activities.

Season 21 - New exotic and legendary weapons

At the time of writing, we don't know what weapons will debut with Season of the Deep. Check back often as we'll update this section as soon as we know more about them.

Season 21 - Patch notes

Bungie is not one to drop patch notes like other developers. They're usually pretty massive and can be overwhelming, which is why they showcase changes bit by bit.
